Esslingen Weinachtsmarkt

Last weekend I went to Esslingen, which is about 30 minutes away by train, with my school for their Medieval Christmas Market. Good times, pretty much the typical Glühwein and sausages, but some interesting buildings and much more of a Medieval theme than the Stuttgart or Reutlingen markets. For example:

I got to try my hand at archery, though I wasn't any good. Not even at all. Anybody who has "Arched" before may notice that I am arching left handed, and the arrow is on the wrong side of the bow.

I'm not sure if I'd trust a Medieval Ferris Wheel, but these kids seemed to be having fun.

Awesome. What else can I say? I would hate to be that pig. The markets always seem to have all sorts of pork products in various forms for sale.
In case anybody was wondering how I actually did at archery, here are my dismal results. I did enjoy it though, and I didn't fire any stray arrows into the crowds.

New Haircut!

I have never gone to a barber for a haircut in Germany, not even when I lived in Munich before. I went to a place around the corner from my apartment a few days ago. It's just a pretty normal haircut, I'm not sure why I was so nervous! That's also my new camera, the Canon 400d. I like it okay, but it's pretty small in my hands. I may consider trading up to something like the 30d, which as better ergonomics and controls, but drops down to 8.2 Megapixels instead of 10.1 with the 400d. I can definitely live with that, since crowding more pixels into the same size sensors doesn't improve image quality at all. Also note the inflatable duck with the Santa hat. I think my roommate Lisa did that. I didn't notice it until one of my friends pointed it out.

Stuttgart Weinachtsmarkt

I went today with Otto and Bodil to Stuttgart for some xmas fun. We drank Glühwein, and I saw a pretty large building being torn down. As Jim has pointed out, I haven't been posting very regularly. I'll try to work on that.
